Snowflakes

Winter snow. A few weeks ago there was one of these not so common winter days; single well-developed snowflakes were falling from the sky, one by one, touching a snow-free surface.
My photographers hart started beating faster - this was a long awaited moment to make a series on snowflakes. A professional would have a prepared piece of black material (matted plastic) in the freezer waiting for this occasion. You need a very cold dark surface where the single snowflakes can land on. Now, I do not have a big freezer, so I have a different secret. I used black bicycle saddles, sufficiently available in our backyard. Further I used a Tamron macrolens (SP AF 60mm F/2.0 Di II Macro 1:1) and LED ringlight and some patience in Photoshop to clean up dirt from the saddles and increase contrast.
Enjoy.
