Repairing - a broken computermouse

Sometimes your mouse doesn't click anymore and replacing the batteries doesn't help. Something is broken, but the mouse didn't fall...

You're right - and you can fix it! It is just the wear of a part; a piece of metal that lost it's tension! I found this solution on this page by Nigel, who gets the credits:

This trick does not only safe money, it also safes electronic waste, and you can repeat it over and over again! I had to do it about twice a year, and it worked for about 6 times, extending the life of my mouse for three years!!! I found this so great that I decided to make a quick manual myself, to share with you.

This applies to a whole series of older logitech mouses. Just try. Remove the screw and the battery and open up your mouse.

If the mouse clicks are made with these black boxes, you may be able to solve your problem.

Remove the cap (almost the complete box itself), very carefully with a screwdriver, as on the picture. It is 'clicked on', so you need to move this sidepart outwards over the bump.

This is how it looks like when they are removed. Don't loose the white parts!!!

Now this is the metal piece causing all the trouble. If you press it down with a screwdriver, you probably don't hear the click anymore, the click that you should hear. Remove this carefully with a screwdriver or tweezers.

Thsi is how the metal piece could look like before.

Now flatten it out, especially the first part with the bigger hole and the curved part.

Second, as most import step, is to restore the kink as right on the photo. Here I used my tweezers to get both kinks on a straight line. I used my fingers as a second pair of tweezers to bend upward.

The most difficult step is to get this back on again. Use the tweezers.
When it looks as on the picture, test the click. If it clicks well, youre done, otherwise, try the tretchung and bending again!

Put the caps - with the white things in it ! , so partially sideways or upside down - back on. They easily click back, even when they are slightly damaged.
Test the click again.

Now put the rest back together.

Good luck!
